A general dentist performs all the services that youll need from teeth cleaning to filling cavities to general preventative work. Even if you know that you need a root canal and a crown, find a general dentist first on a dental website, and make an appointment. He will then refer you to the appropriate specialty doctor, whether it is the orthodontist, the oral and maxillofacial surgeon or the prosthodontist.
