What To Wear For New Years Eve

This is one of the most exciting times of the year and quite often we women take

weeks of preparation to find the most sizzling dress to dazzle whilst we dance.

There is nothing prettier and more appropriate for a New Years Eve party than a stunning cocktail dress. Go for something one-off and totally unique to you. If you have a gorgeous back and swan-like neck, go for a sexy strapless or halter design in beautiful silk and shades inspired by rich jewels. The asymmetric dress is great if you're quite bust heavy as it will give you some support. Accessorize your cocktail dress with gorgeous strappy heels and a metallic hued clutch and pout your way through to the New Year.

If you are not dance savvy and just want to capture the imagination of everyone in the room go for deep decolte necklines, or sexy-slit pencils NOT both together though, reveal one area of the body and keep the rest concealed to avoid looking too trashy. Mermaid and maxi dresses are incredibly elegant and to keep it more fashion and understated go for these styles in less obvious colours like violet, plum or aqua. If you turn up in a brilliant red mermaid it can look like your trying too hard, which is not so attractive. Colour and fabric can make you look and feel exciting so opt for dresses, tops and skirts in opulent silks in romantic colours like chocolate, wine, blush and of course mysterious black.

If you are heading to a house party for NYE and a cocktail dress seems a little too try-hard, shift dresses look great when styled over sparkling leggings and over-the-knee boots. Alternatively pretty A-line prom styles are easy-to-wear and not too formal, team with a pretty tulle petticoat for that girly chic and a much needed extra layer of warmth!

Black may be super slimming, but gold, silver, emerald and wine are especially va-va voom when seeing in the new year. Metallica are particularly festive for New Years events because sparkle is a common connotation for New Years-sparkling champagne and sparkling disco balls! Look for simple shapes and tones that flatter your body type and skin tone. Team your outfit with your boldest lipstick and/or your smokiest eyes and welcome 2011 in style. Pale lips may be trendy, but nothing does the job like pillow box red. Just be careful it doesnt smudge when you get your midnight snog!
