Most parents have been tossing around a few names during the duration of their pregnancy. Some parents even have unique baby names in mind months before the baby's actual birth. Unique baby names are becoming a popular trend among many new parents in this day and age.

It used to be that mother's called their children traditional names or even names from the Holy Bible. It was not uncommon for there to be multiple girls called "Mary" or "Sarah" when in school. Teachers would often have to differentiate between people with the same first name by adding the first letter of their last name when addressing them. For example, if there were two Mary's in the same classroom, Mary Smith and Mary Jones, the teacher may try to differentiate between the two by labeling them Mary S. and Mary J.

That is not so common in this day and age because parents of this generation are starting to name their babies unusual baby names, or names that very few other children have. This trend has been growing over the last few years with more and more unusual baby names surfacing. It is now not uncommon to hear someone calling their baby names like "Rain" or even "Thunder". In addition, people are making up names all on their own. Sometimes they take a name that begins with a vowel, and add a different letter to the front of it. For example, new parents have taken the traditional name "Allen", and turned into "Tallen", "Callen", and even "Dallen".

There are many different ways new parents come up with unusual or unique names for their new babies. Fewer parents are choosing traditional names, and the people you now see with traditional names are the older generation. More and more people want to give their new baby a name that is unique only to him or her. Some parents feel that in doing so, it will help give their child an identity all of his or her own.

Naming your new child is an exciting part of becoming a parent. You are making a very important decision because you are choosing a name that your child will have for an entire lifetime. Whether or not you choose a unique baby name or is totally up to you.
