It doesnt really take a think tank or brainstorming session to come up with topics to write about for your blog. There are a few different options when it comes to content. You can have one long blog page you post everything to or you can also separate by categories. Personally Im a fan of categories. Since I never have a loss for words, its fairly easy for me to come up with things to write about. And since the nature of my business is always evolving, there will always be topics of interest that can help folks out who want to increase their online exposure whether they are new to Internet marketing or even if they have been around for a while.

So what do you blog about? Lets break it down into categories that make sense for you. Some industries obviously have more to talk about than others. The health and wellness industry for instance. So what do you blog about if youre a dentist, a printer, or a restaurant? Lets take a look at each of these industries one at a time and Ill give you my take on it and what I would do.

For the dentist the obvious choice is oral hygiene. You can actually break that down into several pieces based on age. Is dentistry and oral hygiene different based on the age of a person, sure. So talk about tips for toddlers, how to get your kids to brush better, how to make sure your teens are brushing well, and lets not forget those with braces. What to do in later years or even if you have crowns, bridges, dentures and veneers. So there is a lot to choose from there. How about commentaries on all the tooth whitening products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, mouth rinse. Lots of stuff to choose from there. How to prepare your child for a trip to the dentist for the first time. What about children with special needs, you need to prepare them every time you go to the dentist. You can also talk about new machines or processes that come out that your office is using. I think this is a good start but if you are in the dental industry and need ideas, just let us know.

Lets move on to our printer. You can only talk so much about ink right. How about what types of ink wor the best on what types of products. Maybe you dont silk screen t-shirts but you have advice on that or other promotional stuff. Or even if you do, you can always offer good advice. How about the top ten questions you should ask before choosing a printer to work with. How about what the quality of your business cards and marketing materials say about your business. Do you have statistics on what types of products work well or are the most eye-catching or why others dont work well. Maybe you are a third generation printer and you can talk about the olden days when your grandfather was teaching you, how have times changed? Why not add a category to your blog about your customers, you can add testimonials and give them a quick shout out and thank you for their business. You can add a commentary about what is going on in your town. Do you have any other ideas, feel free to share your comments.

Restaurants, now this is one of my favorites, not just because I like to eat out hey who doesnt? With restaurants, you can get pretty creative. You can have a video blog if you like and put up a post about your specials that week. You can talk about the history of your restaurant. Put up an occasional recipe. Have a contest on your blog and get people engaged. There just so many possibilities. Lets say you are an Italian restaurant. Put up a post asking your customers what their favorite menu item is. Blog about Italy or Italian movies. Do you have stories from your ancestors? Just so many possibilities.
