What to Look for When You're Buying Your New Plasma TV

Plasma TVs have been around for a number of years now, with many people who have bought larger TV screens happy with the increased viewing experience they can get from watching movies, sport or just their favourite TV programmes on the big Plasma screen.

Buying a plasma TV though is expensive, and so the choice when purchasing one should be a considered one, the TV set you choose will hopefully last you many years so make sure you buy the best one for your money, and it may even surprise you to know that this doesn't always mean the biggest one you can find either!

One of the first things people will consider is the size, but one relative factor to this is how far you are going to be sat from the TV itself, if you are only going to be a few feet away from the image then you won't necessarily need something as big as 42 inches and above, in fact unless you are using a 1080p high definition source then the picture will appear pretty poor. So make sure when looking at TV sizes that you test TVs at the distance you'll be sat when watching it at home.

Plasma TVs have a series of advantages over the other kind of TV you'll typically be choosing between which is LCD, they are better at handling fast images in sport or video games but you should be aware that plasma televisions that show the same static image for a long time could be prone to a ghost of that image remaining on the screen over time. This is known as burn-in' and is a problem common to Plasma TVs, although they will normally have some feature either of a screensaver or a function to combat this effect which you should run every now and then to keep your screen clean of any ghosts'.

Plasma TVs though have the advantage of costing less to produce than LCD and modern LED TV sets and so the cost for these TVs could be significantly less and may allow you to buy a larger sized screen by choosing plasma over LCD.
