What's New With Garmin Voices
Garmin, one of the biggest manufacturers of GPS systems
, has recently launched a new model of portable navigation system that include the voice recognition function and a multitude of other functions for security or comfort, called Garmin nuvi.
The speech recognition technology is an example of simple and intuitive handle, in accordance with the stylish interface design that Garmin's customers are used to. Buyers adjust a push-to-talk wireless device steering which will be used to activate voice commands and no other setting is needed. Once activated, the customer can use controls, saying out loud those words that correspond to the keys displayed on the touchscreen, so any task can be accomplished without touching the device.
For maximum safety, the driver may ask questions like "where am I" and the receiver will display the latitude and longitude coordinates, nearest address and intersection, the closest hospitals, police and gas stations. Voice recognition may also be used to look for addresses without touching the device with your fingers. This function is available on the market for American English, British English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Dutch.
With a considerable small size, Garmin Nuvi looks like a portable GPS. Apart from its basic function, to guide people by using digital maps based on determining the position with U.S. satellites, nuvi is also a digital entertainment: it plays MP3 songs, it reads aloud books in audio fomat, it provides information about your targets and may even ask for a beer for you, for example in Brazilian Portuguese. Nuvi offers you also the World Travel clock application which clears you up about time zones, and contains a currency converter of sizes, plus a computer.
Equipped with detailed maps, nuvi creates the travel route automatically, obviously based on the destination you choose, and its voice guides you step by step. The commands are presented by means of the touch screen. When you buy such equipment, the vendor will give you optional SD cards with two applications that seem to emerge from science fiction films: Language Guide and Travel Guide. Language Guide is really a software package that contains a bank of words, phrases and even five bilingual dictionaries and Travel Guide contains reviews and suggestions of restaurants, turistic attractions and many others.
