What's The Best Approach--autoblog Or Original Content?

While the majority of my sites are autoblogs, I have discovered something recently

. I own a couple of sites with ample original content, like articles that I authored personally, and some with a combination of my content and content from the UAW plugin. I'm going to be honest; these websites with some original content do out perform my regular autoblogs with regards to income.

Now, creating original content alone isn't sufficient to acquire love from Google. This is Google's mantra, but it's essentially a crock of b.s,. Not long ago I read a post from Michael Grey where he outlines how he created fantastic content over a six-month period, actually making it to the front page of Digg five times, and he nevertheless generated hardly any love from the search engines.

So what's the best approach then? Autoblogging, or writing unique articles? How about a mix of both?

Create a few autoblogs, wait 2-3 months to wait for the website to break free from the Google dance, and observe from Awstats in your server just what your most viewed pages are. Then, from your data you've obtained from Awstats, do some extra study into those keyphrases and check out exactly what your competitors are doing when it comes to getting those exact same keywords to rank. Now, equipped with this data, go ahead and write some unique articles for the website. You won't have wasted a bunch of time and effort writing and submitting articles about key phrases that nobody has any interest in. Or keywords which have a lot of interest, however they do not convert into sales, because visitors are just searching for free information about that keyword.

If you are super lazy, you don't even have to create the unique content. Simply use the keywords that you found out of your Awstats that are getting Google love, and use them to add extra posts to your website with your autoblogging plugin. I did this very thing for just one site in July, and my AdSense earnings doubled for the website in which I used this tactic.

Of course, it goes without saying that after you find your winning pages and add content for that keyword, it won't do you much good if you do not implement a significant back linking campaign. Don't go crazy and attempt to back link every single page in your site, just the ones that show promise when it comes to page views and earnings.

Put into action this plan, and watch your earnings rise.
