When Chardham Yatra Starting Again

This festival is considered as one of the main festival of Hindus

. All four temples (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri & Yamunotri will be closed on next day of Diwali. Statue of Badrivishal Lord Vishnu will be shifted from Badrinath Temple to Joshimath where local priests will worship it for the next six months as Badrinath ji temple will be disappeared in snow during winter time.

Temple will open after six months during summer time when statue will be shifted to Badrinath Ji temple again for worship and Chardham Yatra starts again for from first week of May to Diwali. From May to November weather remain clear but due to hilly area and remote valley weather can be changed at any time.

Suitable time for Yatra would be first week of May to June last week and July-August would be rainy season, so it is better to avoid this time period as some time pilgrims get stuck in one place for 2-3 days due to several landslides, roads blocks & breakage. It is very difficult to clear the roads in this circuit due to hilly area and narrow roads, rescue team has to work hard to clear the dump. Hence it is advisable to do Yatra from either from May to June or from September to November.

This year Chardham circuit has seen heavy flood from Gaumukh due to heavy rain and due to heavy flow of water lots of local villagers have lost their home and roads are badly damaged and flyovers have disappeared in rain water. Villages in Uttarkashi region disconnected with main Cities and countless people went missing.

Though Uttaranchal Government & Boarder security forces have done very good work to make life normal in Uttrakhand and supply food by helicopter and also rescue people wherever is possible and shifted them to Government shelters. Even they provided foods in remote areas with help of ponies where supply of food by helicopter is not possible.

Boarder security forces have repaired & reconstructed all damaged flyovers to connect the villagers with main Cities and Uttaranchal government has cleared all landslides dumb and repaired all roads and also constructed some new roads as well to avoid any inconvenience for pilgrims.

Uttaranchal government is providing every possible help to local peoples to reconstruct their houses and helping hoteliers to repair their hotels as some of the hotels have also effected by rain water.

Now things are under control and after repairing & constructing new roads, flyovers Uttaranchal Government has opened all roads & flyovers for all tourists and pilgrims.
