When writing a business blog, take these 7 steps to make your message clear to your reader
There are many reasons customers and prospects will want to spend time on your site when you're writing a business blog for them, with entertainment and education being the major ones.
Millions of people spent much time today seeking out entertainment on the internet, and there's no reason your website and blog can't provide some of that, even if your business is selling or polishing widgets.
But it's more likely that they'll come for the educational opportunity. If that is the case, there are several aspects of writing a business blog to keep in mind, whether you're doing it yourself or hiring it done:
Make sure your solution to their problem is well thought out and well organized, starting at the beginning and ending with the completed result.
Make sure you don't oversimplify the process and leave out steps. That's one reason a creative partner, who doesn't understand the process as well as you, can be helpful he'll ask questions just like the customer would.
Don't put in too many steps. The customer wants your recommendation of the best widget polish, not a dissertation on brewing the stuff. Writing a business blog is done to benefit your customers, not show off for them.
Add photos or video if it's necessary, but even if you do, don't scrimp on the written description. The customer might want to print it out and take it out to his widget shed for the job at hand. If it gets too long, or if the solution you're discussing has several branches depending on the widget's original finish, maybe it's best to divide it into more section, titling each one for the specific issue. Some of the material is repeated, but that's okay. Just make sure that the instructions you're going to use more than once are the best they can be.
Let the customer know as precisely as possible what the expected outcome should be so he can compare his completed widget to what you say it should be.
