Which Business Card Printing Option is Right for you?

Which Business Card Printing Option is Right for you

?

These days, it's all about choices. From the clothes to wear this day to the foods to eat in order not to gain extra pounds, there are simply a lot of choices. The same is true in the business industry. If you are going to open a business or choose how to go about your marketing campaign, everything has to be decided on. The business card is nothing new to that. Before you can design your own calling card, you need to make a lot of decisions. Lots of them.

Some options help improve your business card's capability to communicate important details to target customers, associates, and business contacts while others don't help achieve the goals you have set for yourself and your business.

Choosing among the business card printing options available today can be difficult, especially if this is your first time to create such card. But instead of being scared of the wide selection, all you have to do is focus on the printing category that best suit your card.

The choice of paper size

The standard size of business cards is 3.5" x 2" set in a rectangular shape. This is, however, only used in the U.S. In other countries, they are following a different size. For instance, the standard size of cards in Britain is 3.346" 2.165". But although it's becoming more and more common to find business cards printed in unusual sizes, it's best to stick with the standard card size, unless you are trying to make a statement for your business.

Which paper type and finish to use?

Mostly, business cards are made of medium weight card stock. If you opt for the standard weight of card stock, that pertains to the medium weight stock. But if you desire to have your card printed on a thicker card stock or a different type of paper, just tell your printer and they will be more than happy to give you several choices. Be sure that a thicker or different card stock is what you really need as they can cost more than standard card stock.

Another think about is your business card is its finish. In the past, it's common to see a business card printed with a matte finish. However, as photos and images become increasingly widespread on business card templates, many business owners or professionals are choosing glossy finish on their card for a touch of style.

The shape

The standard shape of a business card is rectangular, but these days you can have any shape you want. If you opt for a circular business card, that's not a problem. But understand that unusual shapes are considerably pricier than the standard shape and they are likely to be tossed easily because they don't fit into a standard business card case. But if you are on a tight budget and still want to create unusually shaped cards, there are still options available for you such as rounded edges. Such design is very much capable of improving the style of your business card.

Some things to remember

Remember that whatever option you prefer for your business card, it is essential to choose a card that effectively defines you and your business. Don't be scared to make an investment on additional features on your card as you are likely to get your money back as your business progresses.
