No one ever gets used to a move. It is a period of stress for everyone in the household, including the dog. In fact as you get closer to the moving date, you might want to consider putting the family pet in a friendly kennel so it isn't as stressed as you are. They do pick up your stress!

Your movers are in the business of making your move go easier. If you planned your move correctly, you have scheduled to have them come and give you an estimate of what it will cost to move at least a month or more before the move. You will also have attempted to weed out anything you really don't have to make the move with you. What ever you get rid of makes the total move cost less. And the best thing is there is less stuff to pack.

You should go through all the things you have accumulated since you moved in. Carefully go through those black holes that are closets or basements or attics or especially garages. It is so easy to set something here thinking you will use it later. Well, later is here and you need to decide if it really needs to make the move with you. This really needs to be done before you have your movers come in to give you that estimate. It will make the move that much cheaper.

If you are going to hold a yard sale, do it as soon as you can. For one thing you won't change your mind and decide you really do need to take it with you, and two it will take away some of your stress as there will be less to pack. Don't forget if you do decide to take more with you it will not be in the original estimate and your movers will have more things to put in the moving van and the move will cost you more money than the original estimate.

If you are going to have your movers pack up you goods for you, you may need to plan to have them come the day before to pack. Sometimes they come the day of the move and will have additional people to do the packing. If this is the way you do it then plan to stay out of their way but be available for questions. You know what you have better than they do and this may be the first time they see what they have to pack. Believe it, they will have questions. You also need to pay attention to make sure they don't break anything as they are packing it. Accidents do happen.

If you choose to pack your things yourself, you will need to be organized and have everything packed and waiting for the moving van to show up the morning of the move. Then you simply let the workers work.
