Why Barrett M82 And M82a1 Are Best In Semi-automatic Series
The first of the available rifles from the Barrett Firearms Company was in the year 1982 and thus the name Barrett M82
. Barrett M82A1 made entry in 1986. Then the other variants such as M82A1A, M82A1M and M82A2 followed. Barrett M82 was a revolution in semi-automatic rifle series. It was a specialised anti materiel rifle too which meant that it was absolutely meant for the military personnel. Also being semi-automatic in nature there was always a single bullet released from the trigger magazine and automatically it was loaded for the next shot. In terms of recoil operation, there was a locked breech, with blow forward and back mechanism. Most importantly, it became the best pistol for the US army who designated it as the Light Fifty for its chambering of .50 calibre cartridge.
The original successor of M82 was the M82A1 that in its first making was sold to the Swedish army. The M82 and its variants are considered the best pistols by military servicemen and also snipers. Eventually this model also found use in long-range shooting competitions across United States. The expected accuracy in target is measured with 1.5-2 MOA and even more. The effective range of shooting with any of the Barrett M82 pistol variants is at least 1800 meters under any environment situations as well. In the modern firearms industry, this model stands out in several ways.
M82A1 was also a .50 calibre gun chambered also for .416 Barrett. With the introduction of .416 Barrett there is increase in long range precision in shooting also it is available with a non-detachable magazine. Only Barrett M82a1 has a fixed magazine feed. The scope is mounted on the upper receiver of the rifle. The feed mechanism was also same 10 rounds like the M82 standard. Difference was largely brought about in picatinny rail that allowed the mounting of any standard iron sight devices. There was also improved variety of muzzle brakes. The dual barrel springs is another unique feature of the model and the chrome chambered barrel also features around 29 inches. In operations though it remains to be semi-automatic. The effective range of firing also remains 1800 meters while the extent of maximum range is around 6,812 meters. Like all other M82 variants, there is a short distance recoil that securely gets locked and has a rotating bolt. On the whole, this model is faster with age and with the power of self loading.
