Why Bother Spending Money On Music Engineering Schools?
Music engineering is a very rewarding career for those who are able to succeed in getting the jobs that they actually want in the industry
. However the industry is pretty competitive and you have to do more than just go to one of the run of the mill music engineering schools. Before signing onto one of the schools you may be looking into, it is good to have an idea of what you can expect from your degree and what future employers are expecting of you.
Anyone interested in becoming a music engineer should know that they don't have to go to school to succeed. They don't need that diploma like other professionals do to complete the job. They could simply skip it all together and still make their way to the top of the industry.
This isn't saying that a good engineering school isn't worth the money however. If you go to the right school you could find yourself in a much better position than other people who opt to skip it all together.
With that little piece of paper you are more likely to be hired at entry level positions. You won't be doing what you want to do right away but you will be a step closer at the very least. The most important thing is actually getting the job and that is where that degree will be most valuable for you.
While degrees look good on paper, it is the actual experience that most employers are looking for. If you are able to get that experience before ever being hired then you are ahead of the game. The music industry is tough to break into, but it is even worse when you are trying to do it without experience. Save yourself the trouble and find a decent school.
It's true that the experience offered needs to take top priority when picking a school, but that doesn't mean you should waste your money going to a school that is five times as expensive as a different school just because they have a slightly better program. Use your best judgment when picking out a school and get the best deal you can find.
You should also consider the location of the school in relation to where you actually want to work when you graduate. If the school is in the center of a bunch of different recording studios you may be able to get work as an intern while you are still making your way through the degree. Then when you graduate you may find a job waiting for you.
Use music engineering schools to help you get a quick start in the music industry, but make sure you don't waste your money on something that isn't going to help you out in the end. Be smart and do your research before signing up.
