For example, many celebrities are relocating to the British Isles from Hollywood. Some celebrities say that they are doing this because our education system is better in the UK. Others say that they prefer our cultural activities like opera, the theatre and our art galleries. Others like our British pubs, clubs, restaurants and bars. Numerous American actors and actresses enjoy coming to England to star on the West End stage and in Christmas pantomimes, and have a thoroughly enjoyable time doing so.

A "celebrity to buy house" news story will be of obvious interest to people living in the same area that the celebrity is moving to. Fans will probably be pleased, and non-fans are most likely to be unhappy. Sometimes fans will be turned into non-fans, as a celebrity living in your street could mean many wild parties, lots of noise, parking spaces taken up all the time, and endless noisy and disruptive building work as they extend their home every year.

Criminals will be able to see pictures of the inside of their house and may be prompted by these to find out the exact address and break in to steal their valuables. They may find out the exact address by going to pubs and cafes in the area and chatting to people until they find someone, perhaps a tradesman, who knows the street and the number. Many celebrities publicise their movements, so a criminal can find out if they are out of town or out of the country. If the celebrity does not have a housekeeper, a break in to their house will be relatively easy.

But a "celebrity to buy house" story need not be all gloom and doom. Sometimes a celebrity will buy and renovate an interesting property that ordinary people could only dream of. They may buy a castle on the shores of Loch Ness, a lighthouse in Devon or a huge barn in the Essex countryside. Such media stories are interesting as they give an insight as to what can be done with unusual properties like these, regardless of whether the owner is famous. For those people interested in the celebrity, there is also the aspect of getting a privileged glimpse into their home life, their tastes in home dcor and how they live their domestic lives.
