Throughout history, tights have often been looked upon as a timely and classic garment. Often thought of as an accessory for the more sophisticated lady who likes to cover up, many women just to reject the old fashioned nature of hosiery.

However, as time has continued and the fashion world has developed, it has become clear that fashion often takes a retrospective glance of things. We only have to look at the 60s era to see that fashion most definitely repeats itself. This is known as a fashion life cycle. A trend that was in high fashion maybe 50 or 60 years ago will then go into being unacceptable and then years later will return to the height of fashion.

This theory is particularly apparent when it comes to the world of hosiery. Styles such as sheer tights that are associated with times gone by but in recent years have managed to edge themselves back into all the fashion magazines.

Footless tights are often a trend that is associated with the 80s era. An era when sports and fitness wear was deemed completely acceptable to be worn even when you werent exercising. For many people, this may be the reason they do not wish to divulge in buying a pair of footless tights in this day and age. Although just because a garment which used to belong to a particular trend comes back into fashion, does not mean that the garment can be adapted to modern times.

For example, in the 80s footless tights would have been teamed with your favourite neon brights. However these days, footless tights look great with your favourite pair of denim shorts and pumps to be worn on any casual occasion.

There are many other reasons why footless tights have gained popularity. The very design allows you to wear garments that you cant normally wear with regular tights. For example high denier footless tights almost have a legging like appearance so can be worn almost as trousers. They also allow you to wear your favourite shoes such as peep toe heels or summer sandals that you cant wear with just normal everyday hosiery.

Footless tights can be teamed with almost any outfit, often thicker than regular tights they are less prone to tears and ladders.

Conclusively, different hosiery suits different people depending on both their style and the occasion they are dressing for. However, one theory that cannot be challenged is that footless tights are a trend that is here to stay.
