Why Have Stickers For Teachers To Award To Students In Your School

Who does not like to be appreciated for the work and accomplishment he or she has achieved

? Young students especially are always eager to be appreciated and encouraged. Certificates of achievement and other products are awarded to the students for their outstanding academic performance and exceptional performance in sports. What about the students who are just average in academics and in sports. It is never a good idea to ignore them completely and pay no attention to their class behaviour, attitude and other aspects of their school life. By rewarding them through these soft awards, schools can improve their performance and provide a boost to their self confidence.

Students thrive for recognition and it is a matter of fact that everyone in this world enjoys a bit of limelight, then why not students? Teachers should be considerate enough to focus on each and every aspect of a students behaviour. Focusing only on the academic aspect may lead to something that can be viewed by other students as favouritism, because it is true that all students are not at the top of their academic performance, but they can be good at other things. Appreciating only a handful of students might generate feelings of jealousy and envy in the class.

From the above discussion, we come to an understanding that teachers should be appreciative of their students. The next question that arises is that how should they reflect their positive feelings to the student? Are verbal comments just enough? What if a student has been punctual from the start of the academic session? How should such student be appreciated?

Personalised stickers for teachers can be a good way of recognise such feats of success by the student. For instance, if a student has been exceptional in the mathematics class, that particular student should be awarded with the sticker of Best performance in Mathematics and that sticker should be signed by the teacher. Why is this approach better than the verbal encouragement? For two reasons, students would like to have something that can last long than 30 seconds of verbal appreciation. Secondly, young children are psychologically materialistic. Their thinking is not deep enough to appreciate the verbal comments they get, and the chances of forgetting it are much greater than forgetting a substantial item they win. It is something they can show-off to their friends and their parents and feel the pride in doing so.

Other ways to appreciate students can also include certificates of achievements. These certificates can be awarded at the end of the academic sessions upon achievements like: The Cleanest student of the Class or The most Punctual Student of the Class. These certificates are helpful to recognise the achievements that can be assessed by the teacher after the passing of the complete academic session. In this way, if a student is unable to secure a top position in studies or sports, he still gets appreciated for something at which he was exceptional throughout the year. This helps to smother the feeling of being left out from the students hearts and thus everyone participates and gets rewarded equally in the class.

Stickers for teachers should be made part of every schools inventory. These personalised stickers for teachers, which would be awarded to students, are a great help to boost the morale and also maintain discipline in the class. Students would behave more properly in the class if they would want to win the sticker for the best behaviour. Attentiveness and response from the students will automatically be enhanced and increased if they are willing to give their hundred percent in the class. This approach can also solve the disciplinary and attitude problems of most of the students and more discipline means better performance and better learning and productivity from the class.

From the above discussion, it can be easily concluded that instead of using sneaky tactics like threatening and punishing students, positive policies and procedures can be more productive for the students as well as the teachers. By maintaining an atmosphere of healthy contest and competition, greater results from the students can be achieved. Certificates of achievement and award stickers are the best and the most cost-effective means of doing so.
