Why Mnemonics In Anatomy

Before I got my doctorate degree, I invested several hours every night to memorize

human anatomy and when the day of exam arrives, I found myself only remembering some of the information. I'm sure you know precisely what I am talking about if you have experienced studying using textbooks and had gone to classes. Probably when you encounter random conversations with your fellow students, you can enhance your memory however, it still will not change the fact that you do not possess sufficient information you need to have always. There is so much to learn about anatomy and it's overwhelming to absorb let alone remember when under pressure during a test.

By means of anatomy mnemonics, my co-students and I were able to recall information about anatomy without having the need to go through our notes or textbooks. We made use of mnemonics, which is defined as psychologically proven memorization techniques, in order to unlock our learnings and also keep in mind everything that we learned. It was our savior, and it spared us from many weeks of tedious study (time better spent partying, I think).

The truth is, anatomy memorization is actually pretty simple if you go about it the right way. Mnemonics will assist you to uncover a huge group of information by allowing it to be more easy to remember. It's quite the same as opening a folder in your computer to able to access loads of files. With the use of easy to remember lists, you are certain that your learning on every part of the human body is comprehensive.

Among the anatomy mnemonics I have learned, the first simple acronym I learned was ABCD which will let you remember the thoracoacromial artery branches.

ABCD actually stands for Acromial, Breast (pectoral), Clavicular, Deltoid. I'm sure you'll still keep that in mind for the future days.

Some are quite fun. If I have to recall the different axillary artery branches, the mnemonics I use for it would be "Screw The Lawyer Save a Patient" - Superior thoracic, Thoracoacromial, Lateral thoracic, Subscapular, Anterior cicrumflex humeral, Posterior circumflex humeral - better than memorizing it as a paragraph from the book.

I suppose if I were to sum it up, I would say that the key to anatomy memorization is mnemonics through audio. It wouldn't be easy to carry your heavy books around just to study, yet it's easy to just put on your headphones and listen to the audio. Not only that, but there are less distractions, and the information is direct and undiluted. If you are certainly willing to learn and listen, I assure you that with the mnemonics, you will ace the exam.
