Why New Kitchenware Is Not The Only Consideration When Redoing A Kitchen

Kitchen refitting projects can be expensive, so it can hardly be surprising that they are done sparingly

. Instead, many home owners opt to redo the room from time to time in order to freshen it up. This kind of project is less time consuming, less expensive and much less stressful, generally involving investing in new kitchenware and perhaps new furniture. But that is just part of the possibilities involved. In essence, redoing a kitchen is a chance to do part of a refit without going the whole way. For many others then, it is an opportunity to lay new tiles on the kitchen floor, or perhaps get new cabinets installed, if not repaint the old ones. It is also a chance to check the state of the plumbing and electrical wiring in the room, something that should be done for safety purposes as often as possible. So, some Hammerite paint can be applied to the plumbing under the sink, and electrical sockets can be replaced. And if the vinyl flooring is to be replaced with ceramic tiles, then the preparation can be carried out, Mapei adhesive mixed and the new kitchen tiles laid to help create a new atmosphere in what is a familiar room. Unlike a complete refit, which usually means that everything in the kitchen is changed and replaced, redoing the kitchen means that only a specific feature is affected. The complete overhaul would create a major intrusion on daily life. The issue with kitchen plumbing of course is that, over time, the continuing flow of water through them means the metal pipes can corrode. This is especially true in older houses, which can still have plumbing that is more than a decade old. But thanks to the development of metal paint, such as those produced by Hammerite, a market leader, such old and corroded pipes do not have to be replaced. For example, Hammerite Smooth Metal Paint in silver only needs to be applied to the plumbing to immediately protect it from the effects of rusting and other corrosive features. Even if the particular pipes are rusted already, the paint itself can rejuvenate the metal, meaning there is no need for primer or any undercoat. The paint effectively shields the metal behind a single coat, keeping out atmospheric moisture and building an anti corrosive barrier that will last for as long as 5 years. Of course, the time will come when the plumbing needs to be replaced completely, but by applying metal paint the life span of the existing system can be lengthened considerably. The main benefit of this is that the financial pressure is lifted, while the system is protected. If a home owner decides that the flooring needs to be changed, perhaps upgrading it from a vinyl sheet to genuine ceramic tiles, then it is also something that can be done in the short term. In fact, DIY enthusiasts will relish the chance to take on the job, while even DIY novices will be able to handle the process. This is partly because of the uncomplicated nature of the particular task, but also due to the adhesive used to fix the tiles to the ground. The leading adhesives, such as those manufactured by Mapei, can securely stick tiles to the treated surface, and provide the added security of being moisture resistant. What is more, it is possible to increase the performance of the adhesive by mixing Kerabond with Isolastic. And, of course, it can also be used to fix tiles to walls. Alternatively, perhaps it has been decided that matting needs to be laid between the floor and the substrate. It is not unusual for cracks to appear in the substrate over time, which can cause issues with surface tiles. However, a protective layer, such as a Ditra mat, absorbs any such faults and guards the tiles from beneath. The mat also provides a sound barrier against moisture. With a Mapei adhesive specifically developed to attach to the Ditra matting that is laid, a kitchen floor can be more secure than ever before. Coupled with the Hammerite paint that protects the plumbing, the quality of the kitchen facilities can be improved greatly. And while getting new kitchenware may provide a more visible improvement, the knowledge that what is out of sight is also high quality and protected is a huge confidence builder for any home owner.
