Why Smaller Heels Should Be The New "in" Thing

What exactly is the appeal of the high heel? Is it because women feel inferior to

the male-dominated world; is it a personal quest to feel good to make the legs look longer? Or is it to give into the celebrity social ideal? Who knows?

Powerful politicians wives such as Michelle Obama and Royals such as Kate Middleton dont feel the need to follow the flock and give into the trend of wearing crippling high heels. Kate Middleton is the latest world-wide fashion icon since the late Princess Diana and, you always see her perfectly dressed with a sensible yet stylish pair of womens smaller heels or flat shoes. Who says killer heels are best when one of the most talked about women in the world sports a more comfortable alternative to a majority of women on and off the media radar.

There are many complications with wearing high heels, ex Spice Girl and fashion fashionista, Victoria Beckham who is well known for living and breathing in the biggest and best heels has been known to have operations due to damaging her feet through constantly wearing sky scraper shoes. On the subject of small heels for women, Mrs Beckham made a statement saying: I beyond hate ballerina flats, I can't walk in them. Unless they're on a ballet dancer doing ballet, I just don't get it. I love heels.

Women in this day and age will sacrifice anything to look good; Marilyn Monroe famously had half an inch chopped off one of her heels to enhance the wiggle in her walk. Big heels inevitably do ooze sex appeal but who says smaller heels for women doesnt do the same? A majority of women struggle to get to grips with walking in shoes with a big heel because they are uncomfortable or they squash their feet. A recent study revealed that women from the UK totter around in the highest of heels of all the European counterparts; on average each woman elevates her feet by around 8.25cm.

Not only are all these women submitting themselves to pain through wearing huge heels but, in the Journal of Applied Physiology revealed women who choose to wear stilettos put themselves in risk of damage to their hips, back, tendons and knees. Small heels for women should be taken into consideration, not only for health reasons but they can look stylish and ooze the femininity that youre after.
