Why Spiral Light Bulbs?
Today many people are converting their home light bulbs to energy efficient bulbs
. This may be by choice or because their country has passed new conservation requirements. Regardless of the reason, consumers are now in the market for energy bulbs. Many of these are spiral light bulbs, which whilst being the same basic size as traditional bulbs, have many differences including cost, efficiency, and use.
Cost is always an important consideration for consumers. We all want to use our money as wisely as possible. At first, spiral light bulbs may cost a bit more than the old traditional bulbs. But over time, consumers will save money using them. This is because they last so much longer. A spiral light bulb will last for years, much longer than a traditional bulb. So while you may have become accustomed to buying the old bulbs quite frequently, you will not need to buy energy saving bulbs as often.
The reason spiral light bulbs last so long is because they are very efficient. You can use fewer watts and achieve the same amount of output. So in the past where you might have use a 40W bulb you can now use a 25W spiral light bulb and get the same amount of light. You could light up almost an entire home, depending on its size, with what you used to spend to light one room. As the spirals will last so much longer, if you replace all your old traditional bulbs with the new energy bulbs, you will save on each one, which over time, will add up.
Because spiral light bulbs are different to their traditional counterparts, they should be handled differently. Do not hold the tubing, hold it on the plastic part and gently twist into the socket. Do not flip on and off, instead leave on for at least fifteen minutes when used initially. This will increase their effectiveness and help them last longer. Make sure you use the correct bulbs for your fixtures. Only use spiral light bulbs that are specifically designed for dimming fixtures and three-way sockets. Be aware that spiral light bulbs are temperature sensitive and extreme conditions can harm them. Indoors they should be used in open fixtures to add to their life span. If you plan to use outdoors, check the specifications to see their temperature range before installing.
Spiral light bulbs are unique looking, so most people instantly realise these are the energy saving bulbs. However, some do not like the look and because of this manufacturers have come out with a new design, called a Standard Spiral. This new design uses a dome cover which gives the look of a traditional bulb and has a glass diffuser to created soft-white light.
The spiral light bulb is a smart and economic change for our homes and businesses. With each bulb we are saving our costs and energy, and we are helping to save our environment by reducing harmful emissions and landfill waste. As these bulbs become more common in homes and businesses, they should prove even more cost-effective.
