Why Using Electric Wall Heaters Is A Good Investment For This Winter
If you're thinking of buying an electric wall heater before the winter cold settles in your region, now it's the time to start looking since winter is not far away. However there are some things you need to pay attention to in order to make the best of your shopping experience. After all these heaters are not the cheapest home appliances that you could buy.
First of all, you need to make sure you know the size of the room that you intend to warm up. The heater should keep the room warm even when it's very cold outside. You need to consider approximately 10 watts for each square foot for an 8'-9' ceiling.
Next you need to know the proper voltage that you have. Basically there are two types of volts that the heaters come with. Either a 120 or a 240 volts appliance. If you are in the US, you will have most probably both voltages in your home, however it is important to make sure that you indeed have both. Installing the heater only to realize afterward that it has the wrong voltage will cause you big headaches.
Another important issue is the level of noise that your heater will emit. If you want a real quiet heater, you will have to pay more, because most such items have quite a high level of noise that not many people can come to grips with. The reason why the more expensive ones are quieter is because these use better quality internal parts. Of course if you don't have a problem with noise, then just go with the right type of voltage and size for your room.
You also need to choose the proper location of your heater in the room. You can't just install it wherever you like. You need to find a good location that is away from any objects such as curtains or drapes falling over it. Also it should be away from furniture pieces such as chairs, couches or similar. It should be installed on a wall that is near the outside wall because once you get your cold wall warm first, everything else will take that much less time to become warm as well.
Most homeowners, however, use nowadays under floor heating systems that warm the room from the bottom up. Such a system is the radiant floor heating which is very popular these days.
