Why You Need The Logitech Wilife Digital Video Security System
Security is very important to most people, especially for those with families
. It's vitally important that your home is protected with the best of tools, from solid door locks, to alarm systems. This will not only protect your family, but your belongings as well, providing you with peace of mind that's only granted through a good security system. However, locks and alarms don't provide 100% protection and leave gaps in coverage. The Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security system can fill these gaps and provide security coverage across your house, as well as providing other features that you may not have considered it could be used for.
Features
This system provides easy expansion and can allow for an additional five cameras on top of the one packaged with the starter kit. The indoor camera can be mounted on the ceiling, or on the window to face inwards or outwards or can simply be placed on any flat surface. Positioning the camera is made easy with the provided mounts, which simply stick to flat surfaces or can be screwed onto walls. The outdoor cameras are completely weatherproof and tend to have better reception due to the likelihood of them being mounted closer to the receiver, as opposed the reception problems that may come up when installing them indoors due to the additional walls between the camera and the reciever.
This system can easily be installed within an average of fifteen minutes and allows you get your system up and running without any major hassle. The software provides several good features that you shouldn't be without; it provides a video timeline, so that you can skip to any part of the day and watch the feed from one camera or all cameras simultaneously. Additionally, you can setup the system to send you email or mobile phone alerts whenever motion is detected in a certain room.
Disadvantages
Some of the high-end features of the software may require a subscription to access, though considering this is really a basic starter kit $300 perhaps it may be worth it for some. Furthermore, the focus of the camera needs to be set automatically. Another consideration is that each camera is required to be within a certain distance of the receiver, otherwise signal issues begin to crop up and cause problems.
As with many security systems, this one requires the user to be somewhat tech savvy in order to gain the most benefit with the least amount of pain. Setting it up, ideally, should take the fifteen minutes promised, but with the huge variety of system configuration options, it's impossible to guarantee such a target time. There is a help line provided should any problems arise and it would be advisable to use it to get any problems you may have sorted out. An example of a problem that might arise could be due to the type of mobile phone you have; the mobile alert system requires a Microsoft Windows phone in order to function, a blackberry or other phone will not work.
Is It Worth It?
Whatever your reason for buying this security system, be sure to keep in mind that while it may not be rocket science ,you should at the very least know how to use a screwdriver, and connect a video cable. All things considered, the Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security System will make a great addition to any homes security plan.
