This is why the law states that courier companies must disclose surcharges if asked about them. Be sure to ask up front what it will cost to get a residential delivery made. At this point, you should know if you're dealing with the right type of courier company.

Because of the growing trend of people needing courier service to their homes though, you should be able to find a courier company somewhere that doesn't charge any additional fee for making a pickup from a private residence. These are often the companies that have recognized the growing trend in home based businesses, and who are attempting to make the most of that trend by ensuring that they are there to meet the growing courier needs for these businesses as they expand. If you see a lot of pickups from your home in your future, that is the type of courier company you want.
