The original diesel engine was developed to run on peanut oil or vegetable oil but because petroleum was much cheaper, people prefered diesel fuel. It seemed that people didn't fully understand that these engines were able to regular cooking oil. Present-day biodiesel is generally manufactured from vegetable oil, animal fats, soybean oil, and even recycled restaurant grease. B20 is often a mixture of 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel, and this fuel can run any diesel vehicle. What really is great about biodiesel would be that the fuel is biodegradable plus it gives out low gas emissions.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is a byproduct of petroleum production and this can be used to power diesel engine vehicles as well. LPG currently is the least expensive of all petroleum products. You can use LPG by setting up a conversion apparatus. A fully biodegradable and renewable fuel, that is made from a biomass that has been fermented, is ethanol.
