Winning Runner Runs Toward The Medical Field

This lady graced this small town for the very first time in 1984 believing that she

can one day become a great runner and get the chance to compete in the Olympics. Her greenish brown eyes have seen it all in just four short years. She was able to bag sixth place when she competed in the 1988 Olympics held in Seoul Korea as she joined the 3,000 meter run. This young world class runner finally graduated from the local school last December. Being touted as the next queen of American middle distance running only at 23, she easily got herself a contract with a famous shoe brand that ran for three years.

But then this young Delaware native decided to stay right where she is for now. While going through her usual workout routines, she gets to see through all the campus' environs. This stunning young runner stands 5 foot 6 and weighs 110 pounds but as she runs to her own finish line, it?s as if her feet barely touch the ground. She becomes quite fidgety with the thought of fame especially when people chase her for her autograph. Being such a modest and unassuming girl, she shares that she gets bothered when people treat her in a different way stating that she is just a normal girl.

She is truly beyond average even when she comes off as a normal girl. She is the sole Olympian female to ever hail from their town. She is part of seven world record relay teams and also hands her hands on four American collegiate awards. At school, she led her team, capturing eight individual NCAA championship titles and 14 Big East championship titles. She has also reaped tons of awards in major areas.

Now that she has already graduated from collegiate competitions, she has begun planning her sports career with the help of her track coach. With this big leap comes the need for changing a lot of her mentalities. Unless people have already experienced it, it would be hard for them to understand. There is so much pressure driving her to become a great runner but most of this comes from her own self. She has overwhelming qualms about encountering injuries as while she is still affiliated to the famous shoe manufacturer as their endorser. She has grown to be more nervous these days compared to her collegiate competition days because a lot more eyes are on her and expecting so much.

Many ask, without her, how can the local woman's track team keep on? Of course they will be fine for they are a superb team, she shares. She values her privacy thanks to the notoriety, pressures and responsibilities. Even her siblings ? a brother and a sister, along with their parents, needed to adjust to the fact that now, people know them too. Thanks to her parents being laid back, they were more of encouraging rather than pushy.

You would be surprised and envious of the company she keeps, thanks to her stardom. She is close to a group of athletes known to be the cream of the crop and whom we all idolize and follow on the TV screen. It is true that she name drops, but it is not without any pretentions for she is genuinely concerned with these people who share a familiar link with her. A concrete example would be her sharing that she had last seen this guy she was with during a tour way back during the Olympic days after they had returned this past June from the tour leg in Hawaii. She truly enjoyed his company during those three days where they had fun and talked about the past.

She shares that she bears with an excessive amount of time but she still hasn't trimmed down her list of stuff to be done. In addition to daily practice, she busies herself with being a public figure, organizing her comings and goings to track meets, banquets, interviews, photo sessions. She also said that she will offer some of her time and talent by volunteering as a coach assistant at the local school.

In keeping up with the medical aspiration she has put on hold, she also aims to volunteer on one of the area hospitals. Such can indeed help this former psychology and premed major determine if she should still pursue the life of a doctor after she?s done with the life of an athlete. Has she thought about what awaits her? She avers that while she hopes to have a good husband and children, they will have to wait after her running career has flourished. She says that she will achieve her goals and wants first before these other things in life.
