With Home Invasion on the Rise, Make Sure that Your Home Security System is Ready

Over the past few years, carjacking and home invasion have risen faster than any other form of crime. Many people can see why carjacking has increased so dramatically. But at the same time, many people are puzzled as to why home invasion has increased. The answer is actually quite simple.

Historically, burglars have always been more interested in commercial targets like fast-food restaurants, convenience stores and liquor stores. They liked these targets for two reasons. The first reason is because these places tended to stay open late into the night. This was a big advantage for burglars because they could strike at times when few people were likely to be present, and they had the cover of night to protect them as they made their escape. The second reason why they liked to rob these places is because these businesses usually had a lot of cash on hand. Therefore, robbing one of these businesses was not only easy, fast and efficient, but it was also highly profitable. To a burglar, the rewards far outweighed the risks.

However, in the past few years, all of the stores and businesses that were traditionally targets, like fast-food restaurants and liquor stores, have completely upgraded their security measures. As the security industry has been able to provide better, more affordable products and services, businesses have taken advantage of these breakthroughs and put them to work. Today, all of the stores and businesses that were threatened by burglars have installed video surveillance systems, silent alarms and other deterrent devices. Burglars know that these systems work and so they avoid stores and businesses now. This is great news for store owners, but bad news for home owners, because burglars have turned their sights to home invasion.

Because our homes are more threatened now than they have been over the past few years, we all need to take a step back and take a good look at our home security systems. The average home is much more vulnerable to robbery than the average store or small business because businesses have better security measures. However, even if we cant reach the level of security that stores enjoy, we still have to make sure that we protect our homes as much as possible.

The most important part of a good home security is a reliable home alarm. A home alarm serves the same purpose as a silent alarm in a business. They main difference is that a home alarm is anything but silent. On the contrary, these alarms are very loud and for good reason. When a burglar trips an alarm in your home, you want him to know it. The idea is not to quietly alert the police. The idea is to let the burglar know that his presence has been detected. You dont want to trap him in your home. You want him to flee as quickly as possible and never come back.

In addition to a good alarm, you want to make sure that you are using strong, solid locks on all of your doors and windows.

Its impossible to stop burglars from trying to enter your home, but you can make sure that if they do try that they will fail.
