Washington Wizards top pick in the recent National Basketball Association (NBA) draft
Kentucky point-guard John Wall is the new face of the team for years to come. The days of National Basketball Association superstar guard Gilbert Arenas as the face of the Washington Wizards is now officially over. The Wizards made their top pick Kentucky freshman John Wall as the new franchise player of the team. The NBA franchise showed their gesture when they gave Wall a red-carpet treatment during his formal introduction to the countless fans of the Wizards.
The organization made Wall, who is known in college basketball for his point-guard skills and athleticism feel like a King in his first official visit to Washington after he was selected by the team in the recent NBA draft. Wall was driven in an SUV-size limo to the Verizon Center, where he stepped onto a red carpet surrounded by scores of fans who cheered, craned their necks and did their best to snap photos of the Washington Wizards' No. 1 overall draft pick.
The team earlier made Wall as the top pick since they believe his superb basketball skills will carry the team to success after a disappointing year the past NBA season. Wizards coach Flip Saunders said the team made the decision to draft Wall since he is the best available point-guards in the NBA draft. Saunders said based on what they have seen on Wall he has the skills to become one of the top point-guards in the NBA. He said with the chance to select suck talented point-guard they did not hesitate to take Wall as their top pick.
The 19-year-old rising basketball star for his part revealed he is happy and overwhelmed by the trust and confidence given to him by the Wizards and its countless fans worldwide. Wall said he will play hard every game to ensure the Wizards will be successful in the next NBA season.
