What Are Mages?
This WoW Mage guide is for players who choose the Mage class. Before starting, a player will have to choose a realm or a server categorized in four types; player versus player, player versus environment, roleplay and roleplay-player versus player. They then need to choose their sides, whether they want to belong to the Alliance or the Horde. Class comes next, should it be Mage, Warrior or Priest?
Mages are magic wielders who are known for their abilities to use damage to defeat opponents. They have skills designed to slow down their opponents, summon food for allies, summon a pet to provide help in combat and also weaken the magical abilities of their enemies. Their primary tools are fire, frost and arcane.
Why They Need Help Leveling Up
Despite the impressive list of their abilities, Mages actually are quite fragile when it comes to solo play which makes it harder for them to level up. They are also heavily reliant on mana to use damage; so if none is available, the damage is at a standstill. This class is also known to be difficult to manage and play.
Skills and Techniques for Leveling Up
Kiting is one of the most important skills that a Mage should develop. It is a technique that involves snaring or slowing down an enemy and throwing various spells towards it. Mages can use Frostbolt or Fireball to force the enemy to come nearer, and then lock it in place with the Frost Nova. Deep Freeze can be used to stun the opponent for about five seconds.
Another skill that can be useful is Polymorph. It is a spell that allows a Mage to stun his enemy for certain periods of time. However, it is only effective on Critters, Humanoids and Beasts. Mages are often required to take enemies out of the battle for quite a long period by getting them Polymorphed.
Mages are better in group plays than in solos. They are often required for the use of their damage and for keeping opponents Polymorphed. Mages are advised to balance the use of their damage and not to unload all of it since moderating damage can be the decider in a battle.
This WoW Mage guide has provided you with some basic tips. Now, it is up to you to win your battles and have a great time doing it.
