. It is a practice that is in accordance with their faith. Teachings of different religions also vary because they impose different rules on how people should dress. But dressing modestly may be an individual's choice as well and it does not matter what their religion or cultural background is because it is not only the Muslim women who can do so. In the United States, modest clothing is different and is somewhat relaxed. Evangelical women should avoid see through clothes and above the knee skirts or even swimsuits and men's clothing. The Pentecostal faith on the other hand is never to wear slacks and jeans and only dresses and skirts. Make up and jewelry are also important part of modest clothing.
The bottom line why modest clothing is imposed among women in different religions and cultures is humility. There are different reasons why people choose to dress in a certain way. Some dress modestly because of religious beliefs while some as their personal choice. Remember that when you dress modestly it does not necessarily mean that you are compromising the style because you can sill be fashionable and at the same time dignified.
