Business owners carry the weight of responsibility for everything that goes into creating revenue and building a successful operation. It can seem overwhelming at times. The "hats" a business owner wears are sometimes too numerous to count. It could be administrative work, planning for marketing, closing sales, producing products or actual service work.

There is always so much to be done in our businesses. We work hard each day to wake up and do it all again. As business owners and entrepreneurial thinkers, everyone could use extra time to devote to working ON a business rather than just working IN the business. The daily action habits and commitments often keep us in a place where there is always so much to do. Yet many ideas and opportunities are around us that seem exciting and possible.I started thinking back to college, or even high school for that matter, where we picked our class schedule and planned out where we had to be and when. Our schedules were well organized and we had a time slot to accomplish little bits of each area on which we needed to focus and learn everything we needed. We also knew that certain 'classes' would call for additional time later in the evening or weekend to stay current. What if we set up our business schedule that way? For example, we would include things like:Blogging & Article Creative Writing, Communication & Email Creation, Product Development & Improvement, Marketing Campaigns 101, Social Media & Time Management. Oh, and don't forget the independent study, or study hall period which is the perfect place to learn a new skill or take time to work on your ideas and opportunities (ON your business).It's the small details that can have such a huge result in terms of our achievement, efficiency and productivity. Where in your schedule could you block out time to work on your business, your goals and your new ideas? When would now be a good time? Observe and keep track of the daily tasks you perform and begin to schedule them. Are there things that should be delegated? Then, look to see where you can make some time, every week, to improve and move forward.Small chunks of time - time set aside without interruptions of phone calls and emails - can, in time, produce some great success in terms of making real progress in moving your business forward. It's too easy to think that because you don't have a whole day or a large block of time that you can't accomplish big things. Begin now to commit to spend time regularly to organize and plan how you can improve your business. You'll see results in a short period of time.
