Do you know that you can actually save energy while using your computer either at home or at the office

? We often neglect the seemingly insignificant things with regards to electricity not knowing that these little things, little as they may seem, can greatly affect our monthly electricity consumption. So how can you cut back on your energy consumption in regards to using the computer?

Even when your computer is turned off or is put on standby, it still consumes electricity just like any other appliance when left unplugged. This is especially true for computers because most computers need a transformer in order to run. That's why it is best that you disconnect it from the power source after you shut it down.

There are situations when you need to stay away from your computer and return to it again after just a short period time. When this is the case, turn on the power saving feature of your computer. This feature will shut down the computer hard disk and monitor temporarily to save power. If you know that you'll be gone for more than 15 minutes, it would be better to just shut the whole thing down.

It is obvious that the more you leave your computer on, the more it is going to consume electricity. You cannot overemphasize on the subject of turning shutting down your computer when you are not going to use it. Even If you have plans of returning to it immediately after a short while, it's still better to shut it down instead of leaving it on. You'll save more energy when you do this.

Be a smart buyer if you want to save on electricity. Yes it may seem that you can save money if you choose to buy cheaper computer models but in the long run you actually get to spend more because cheaper models consume almost ninety percent more electricity than newer computer models do.

Your personal computer actually has certain features that allow you to use energy efficiently so don't take it for granted. You will be able to save money and electricity if you know how to use both those features and the simple energy saving tips correctly.
