Your Credit Application Was Rejected - What Should You Do Now?

As time goes by, every single day more people are applying for credit cards

. You don't need to carry stacks of cash around with you. All that you need to shop to your heart's content is this little plastic card. It can give you the most amazing amount of power to buy things at the malls or online. But, not all credit card applications get accepted. Some of them are rejected.

Why would a credit card supplier resort to rejecting your credit application? They are the ones who want more customers queuing up at their doorstep, right?

The most obvious of things is a processing error that could be made whilst you are filling in the application for the new credit card. This might be a real small error such as the wrong zip code or telephone number but, they could work as a major reason for the card to be rejected.

The next thing could be if you haven't filled in all the mandatory information that is required on the application form. Another thing is that the handwriting on the form might be unreadable and that might result in a rejection letter from the card company. There could also be an error committed by the staff filling the form for you. This might be possible when you fill out an application over the phone.

Besides these minor errors committed by humans which can be corrected once you have received the credit card, the main reason for rejection is a bad credit score. If you have used your credit card without a thought to the repayments and taken a whole lot of bank loans and are weighed down by mortgage, then you would might have a low credit score. If the payments have not been made in time and you aren't consistent with the payments then you certainly can't expect your rating to be good. Defaults on your credit card payments get you a lower credit rating. This credit rating is calculated by the credit bureaus. Credit suppliers get the information from them. All new credit card applications need to have a credit rating in order to be approved. If the credit rating does not meet their specifications, then the application is rejected.

Remember, if your credit application is denied, you are entitled to a free credit report. Look at your credit denial letter and see what agency performed the credit check. Send them a copy of your rejection letter. They will then send you a free copy of your credit report.
