Zerg Build Orders for Starcraft 2
Your Zerg build order strategy is crucial to winning the game. Minor changes in your Zerg build order plan will have a major effect on the success or failure of the game. Below are two specific build orders and a general outline for all future builds. You should determine your build order strategy based on the map, the species you are up against, and your opponent's tactics. A must do with the Zerg is to constantly be certain to scout as you build your structures and soldiers. You can find the most effectiveZerg scouting tips by clicking Here. Depending on what your scouts uncover, it may be smart to change your build orders.
Be certain to pay attention to your macro as a Zerg. The Zerg's production capabilities need to be closely monitored, since unlike the Protoss and Terran they generate both workers and combat units from the same resource. For assistance in generating the most out of your workers and maximizing your resource generation, make sure to check out theseZerg Macro Tips. Protoss or Terran races will usually generate worker and combat units at the same time at the start of the battle, while Zerg players are able to focus entirely on one or the other. The most important factor for your build order will be the number of Hatcheries you've created and the Larva that come from them. Zerg Build - Early Battle
These Zerg build orders will put you past the first part of the game in good position, and is effective vs. any race.
Generally, you should start with 9 Overlord. Nine Overlord is way better for your economy than 10 Overlord or extractor tricks.
At twelve, send out your first scouting Drone.
13 Spawning pool is significantly faster (about 5 seconds) than 14 Spawning pool, which makes a big difference vs. 6 pools or proxy gates.
This will eventually also save you 5 seconds on Baneling Nest or 'ling Speed.
14 Overlord
Save larva
Now generate around 6 'lings. Put them out on the attack quickly to either get into the enemy headquarters if he hasn't walled up yet, or surround his starting units.
Drones take them off of gas after you accumulate 100
Once you accumulate 20-22 food, start to develop your first Hatchery and Overlord.
Put drones back on gas after their first injection larva pops.
You also usually would like two bases since you cannot generate enough larva with a single hatchery (except for certain maps when battling a Terran enemy). Once you create another Hatchery, your resource gathering will really flourish.
Zerg Build - Drones Early
The initial goal of this Zerg build order tactic is to spawn 10 Drones as soon as is feasible.
Now focus on getting to 200 Minerals. Once you get to ten Drones, the next step is to spawn an Overlord, and then an extra three Drones.
When you've collected the 200 minerals, build a Spawning Pool. The Spawning Pool is a critical target your opponent will try for, so be sure to put it in a place that's difficult to attack. While the Spawning Pool is being created, set an Extractor up and put 3 Drones on it, then continue to spawn extra Drones until it's finished. Get your Queen out immediately after the Spawning Pool is built. Then make some additional Drones as well as some 'lings.
Save up one hundred Vespine gas and then upgrade the Spawning Pool with the Speed Boost.
To protect your base, build a Baneling Nest as well as several Banelings. Banelings are excellent at protecting your headquarters and killing off attackers.
