. The word revival means a renewal. Most churches hold revivals annually and some may have them more often than that. A revival is a time of wondrous joy and praise. It is possibly one of the largest events a church will hold each year. It is often filled with music, guest speakers and a large amount of energy the fills the entire room. This energy is strong enough to last with a person for quite some time. It could be the energy of the people, of the self or of something greater. Whatever it is and wherever it comes from it is a powerful thing that can change a person.

Revivals are a renewal of the spirit. It is a time for church gatherers to rid themselves of the pain and anguish they've been holding on to for so long. All of the things they couldn't part with each and every other Sunday they can let go at the revival. Spirits are cleansed, souls are saved, and the renewal of life can begin. Some revivals may seem odd to an outsider looking in. They see people jumping around, shouting to the air and falling to the ground. The fact is that no one can tell anyone else how to celebrate life or how to thank their god for it. We are given the right to believe and worship any way we choose. That is one of the first and greatest laws of America.

Anyone who attends church or isn't sure about religion should at least attend one revival in their lifetime. The only way to understand a religion is to learn and practice what it is trying to teach. It may not be for you, but at least you'll have a better understanding of those who decide to believe. This will help open your mind to what is going on, and with an open mind, greater things can happen.
