Gianni Truvianni's "New York's Opera Society" Chapter 28 Act two of "La Boheme" is one that I always enjoyed though not as much as Amanda, who thoroughly loved singing Mussetta's aria, which perhaps helped her live out her hidden fantasies of being a playful unabashed coquette; whose voice shrieked in bars. It grabbing at the ears, erotic feelings and maybe even nerves of all those who were in singing...more
Gianni Truvianni's "New York's Opera Society" Chapter 29 The day came as did the evening of "the opera party" like it had come to be referred to among the members of New York's opera society. My mother had spent the previous three days wearing not only herself out but the servants and our family in getting ready for this gathering which my father truthfully speaking would rather have had it take place in our...more
Gianni Truvianni's "New York's Opera Society" Chapter 30 19:00 hours came around on the day of the party or opera lovers get-together as I liked referring to it. My father had gotten home from work early in order to be showered, shaved and changed on time for when the first guests were due to arrive. Seven pm was the time that my mother felt was the best time for us to start getting ready for the opera lover's get-together. Fortunately, our apartment was spacious enough for my mother, father, sister and me to get ready at the same time without having to take turns using bathroom. As for myself; I did not do anything to get prepared that I did not do on any other evening on which I needed to look my very best. My mother and sister (who surprisingly enough was not on tour), helped each other get ready in the way most women do and by 8 pm my sister, my father and I were ready for my mother's inspection which she carried out by having us go to the family room; to see if we were as she put it "presentable". Gosia was nowhere to be found during this inspection as she was going to be arriving with Barbara and Brad. After having received my mother's...more

Gianni Truvianni's "New York's Opera Society" Chapter 32 As I walked around and looked about the place I thought of how being in New York's opera society was in a way like being on a boat and in our case the same one which was opera. Gianni Truvianni's "New York's Opera Society" Chapter 33 I then saw that my presence had interrupted their conversation. Them being at difficulty to get it started again, so in order to break that silence that tends to creep in when all are looking at each other waiting for someone to hit upon a subject all can join in I said looking at Gosia; hoping she had not noticed the way I had been looking at Anna. I, at least confident that Gosia would not have said anything even if she had. " Gosia, mother wants us to start night's performance with that song you and I worked on; you know the one I will sing with Amanda, drinking song from La Traviata". "Yes, I know; what time does your mother want us to start?" was Gosia's question as she and Anna smirked with one another, as if they foundhumor in me. I even got the feeling that they both knew or had suspected that I would find Anna attractive and that my discretion or lack of it had given me away. There is something about someone laughing that for some reason makes people around them do likewise, even if these people do not know why the people they are joining in laughter were laughing in the first...more
