1. PRICING RESEARCH
A super common mistake is to not do proper pricing due diligence on the item(s) you are selling. You cannot just mark up the item a certain amount and assume it is still a good price for the customer. This will not work.
You must determine the following.
- What are others selling the item for on ebay
- The historical result of sales (is it selling? how many auctions are closing without a winning bidder)
- Is the market over-saturated? Are you adding value to the existing market.
Many businesses price themselves to broke. They compete in price wars with each other and eventually cut away all of their margins. Find an item that is not over-saturated and that you can have a comfortable market share in and this will not happen.
2. ITEM TITLES
Do NOT use the same title for the item you are selling as the in the Dropshippers catalogue. Edit it and optimize it for the eBay market.
For example a product catalogue may have "Hewlett Packard Printer". Optimize the title to read "NEW Hewlett Packard HP 1210 INK PRINTER with 2nd ink cartridge"
Write the title in a way that will make it visible in different searches it's all about increasing visibility!
3. DROPSHIPPER RESEARCH
Just like any thing else in life,when it comes to Dropshippers there are the good, the bad and the downright ugly.
You need to learn about your suppliers before you get into bed with them! Remember you are giving your business to their business and they have much less to lose than a little ebay seller like yourself. Learn the following -
- Returns. Does the supplier accept returns? If so, on what grounds? If it doesn't fit, the wheel is lose or if the buyer is just plain not happy with the item?
- What carrier does the supplier use to ship product? What is their reputation?
Dropshipping can lead to a very fun and rewarding entrepreneurial lifestyle.IT IS POSSIBLE, but you have to put in the hard yards (if only in the beginning). Research and research some more, it's worth it.
