3D Systems supports Opena, an iPhone case and bottle opener combination from Annex Products

Conceived, designed, and developed by Rob Ward and Chris Peters of Annex Products, the Opena is poised to make your iPhone experience more fun and functional. Chris, the industrial designer and Rob, the online marketing pro, both from Australia, intend to open far more convenient with their prototype.
When asked how they landed on the concept of the Opena, they were quoted as saying:
"The idea came to us one sunny afternoon when we were kicking back having a few cold beers at a mate"s place....while some people have bottle openers on their key rings you may not always have your keys with you. However, what is always with these days? Your phone!"
The initial response to this Swiss army knife of smart phone cases has been phenomenal. Prototypes they created with the help of 3DSystems, Rob was quoted as saying, "The prototypes, created with the help of 3DSystems, proved to be a huge hit. People asked if they could buy the prototypes from us so we figured we were on to a good thing."
After their prototype became a hit, Chris and Rob even managed to get $28,000 on the popular crowd funding site Kickstarter even though they were aiming for $15,000. While design and marketing is the duo"s expertise, 3D prototyping the solutions helped them bring their idea to life.
Today, the Opena is shipped to thousands in Australia, and around the world. "Taking the time to understand our customers" strategies and business models enables us to incorporate their input quickly into specific products and offerings," stated Simon Marriott of 3D Systems.
