3. Lack of Objective. Some businessmen thought that a sales letter is purported to make readers buy the product offered. They are right. However, figures say that out of 10 readers, only 4 are very interested.
Out of 4, only 1 may respond to the call of action, which is the act of purchasing. What happens to the remaining 6? What happens to the 3 who were interested?
A good sales letter does not only make people buy your products. It should educate them. It should contain interesting and important information to make them continue reading.
They may not be convinced to buy the product, but, they could be impressed with your product and the manner it is presented. In the future, when you send them another sales letter, your name becomes a reason for them to read your letter thoroughly.
4. Addressing the sales letter to everybody. Although people have already figured out long time ago that the internet provides means for business owners to generate their complete names, address and e-mail address, it is still different when you address an individual with his or her name. It sounds professional and personal.
Compared with the "Dear valued customer", a greetings that says "Dear Miss Antha Valencia" has a human touch. The former is obviously impersonal written by a machine.
5. Exaggeration. Avoid outrageous claims. Stick to the facts. Use its benefits as your selling points but do not add or alter what has been deemed as facts.
