A Busy City Lifestyle Doesn't Have To Be An Unhealthy One
Living in a major city such as London, England's capital
, can be a fantastic experience.
Right in the middle of everything, from fantastic restaurants that offer world famous culinary experiences to outstanding musical performances, living in a major city means you get to experience a whole host of different events.
What's more, city living very often means you can be as social or reclusive as you wish, as you'll have millions of people to socialise with, yet no one will consider it unusual if you walk past them in the street and don't say hello - one of the beauties of living in a city like London.
However, due to the often hectic life that you can lead, in terms of both a social life and work, it can seem like living even remotely healthy whilst living in a major city can be impossible.
If you're busy at work all day and meeting friends on an evening to see a show, for example, where are you supposed to fit in a healthy diet?
For many, they don't and with the lure of takeaways and ready meals, the easiest option is to simply let someone else do the cooking for you.
The easiest option is very rarely the healthiest, however and what's important to remember is that healthy living is possible - and probably easier than you think - but it just takes a bit of planning.
Use exercising as an example.
With what seems like a gym in London for everyone, there's no doubt that the fact you can't workout isn't due to there not being a suitable gym in London and it's most probably down to you not thinking you have the time.
The beauty of London gyms, however, is that they cater for the needs of the busy nearby residents, meaning that whilst you might only be able to go to a gym in a more rural part of the country from nine in the morning until seven at night, almost every gym in London will be open for several hours before and after the working day.
Your diet is also worth taking a look at, as it doesn't need to be a shop bought porridge that's high in salt for breakfast, a fatty, carbohydrate sandwich for lunch and a takeaway meal that's rich, fatty and salty.
The primary point to note here for a good diet is time, as you might not think you have time to prepare healthy foods, but more often than not, you will.
If you wake just 10 minutes earlier each day, for example, you'll be able to have a healthy bowl of cereal and if you stay up 10 minutes later on a night, it will give you the chance to prepare a salad or sandwich for lunch the following day.
And if you spend an hour on a weekend creating a batch of pasta in a tomato sauce, you can freeze individual portions to give you a quick and healthy meal option for dinner throughout the week.
Living in a city like London can be fantastic and contrary to what you might think, it doesn't have to mean you live an unhealthy life with a poor diet and with just some basic preparation, you can be just as healthy in London as you can be anywhere else in the UK.
