A Dentist Is A Perfect Professional

Dentistry is a very important branch of medical science

. Dentistry had been in existence since ages, but it acquired the sophistication and patient-friendliness only in the last century with the advent of modern technologies and dentistry gadgets. Before practicing dentistry, one has to go through long years of relevant education, internships and practice.

Modern dentists are specialized professionals who had graduated with either Doctor of Dental Surgery or DDS dentist, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Dentistry, Bachelor of Dental Science or equivalent.

In many countries, dentists have to undergo post graduate dentistry studies and post secondary education for several years, sometimes even eight years, to be eligible for independent practicing. Dentistry, as we know, is a process where art and science come into play.

The basic duty of every dentist, be it a cosmetic dentist, a dental surgeon or any other specialty, is to keep our teeth in perfect condition. This ideal situation entails naturally white colored, disease-free, flawless, cavity-free, well-shaped and gap-free teeth set. Acquiring such a set requires the collective toil of the individual and his dentist. DDS dentists are fully qualified doctors who are entitled to help you in your venture to obtain such a faultless teeth set.

For earning a DDS, a person has to undergo at least three years of undergraduate education but some dental schools ask for a minimum bachelor's degree. During the four-year course, dental students do two years of basic medical and dental sciences and two years of clinical training. They need to successfully complete some stipulated examinations too. Physiology, occlusion, microbiology, biochemistry, pathology, anatomic sciences and dental anatomy are taught in the first part of the curriculum.

The next two years, the students study operative dentistry, orthodontics, pedodontics, radiology, oral pathology, prosthodontics, pain control, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics and pharmacology. After graduation, a majority directly jumps into practice, but a miniscule percentage opts for further studies.

To become eligible to practice independently, a dentist has to pass licensing examination. After passing this exam, the dentist has to pass an examination regarding ethics too. Only after all these hurdles are cleared, a dentist becomes legally eligible to practice. In addition, DDS dentists are required to complete continuing education courses on a regular basis to maintain the license. These courses keep dentists updated and refreshed throughout his or her career.
