There are many ways of selling your photography and making money with your camera. One of the easiest, fastest, and most enjoyable ways is by taking pictures of pets. Unlike some of the other photography niches, pet photography is an easy and fast way to get a photography business off the ground.

If you have:

1) a camera that takes quality images (Quality is Key)

2) patience

3) and love of animals

4) Maybe a young teen as an assistant.

Then you have all the tools you need to start.

Your next step should be to practice by taking pictures of your pets or your neighbors pets. Practice taking pictures of the pets alone and some with the owners this way you'll be ready if the owner wants to be included in the "portrait".

Next take your images to several of your local printers and determine who's quality and prices suit your needs.

Once you feel that your are confident about how you will handle the animals and owners, and with the quality of your images and prints you are ready to start.

Begin bycontacting local veterinarians, pet groomers, or pet stores and agreeing to providing them with some "free" images of some of their patients and clients to put on their walls. Offer to pay them a "finder's fee" for any clients they refer to you that results in a shoot.It's a small price to pay for selling your photography.
