A Few Tips For Improving Your Daily Shave
Keeping a well-trimmed face is an important part of any man's routine to help maintain a professional visage throughout the work week
. However, if not handled properly, shaving can have the very opposite effect: nicked chins, razor burns, and other unseemly residue from a morning's shave can call much more unwanted attention to yourself than if you had simply left everything the way it is. Here are a few suggestions for those finding it difficult to achieve the perfect shaving experience.
The first step is deciding which type of razor works best for you: disposable, regular, or electric. Disposables are handy because you never have to worry about it being sharp enough. On the other hand, they create a lot of unnecessary trash. Regular razors can be just as a effective if you need replacing the head soon enough. A dull blade will get caught easily or nick your face, leading to those unsightly cuts. Many have turned to an electric razor to avoid blades altogether, though they tend to take longer and sometimes leave neck burns more easily.
Make sure that before you shave, you prepare your face properly. This can be done by either washing your face with a cleanser, taking a shower, or splashing warm water on your face. The important part here is to open up your pores and moisten the hairs so that they are easier to cut. Just make sure you avoid too much soap or really hot water, so as not to dry out your skin.
When it comes to actually shaving, don't make things harder than they need to be. Work with the flow of your hair rather than against it: stroking downwards on the face and upwards on the neck. Of course, you will probably have to shave in both directions to really get your face clean, but starting off with regular directions can help get a pretty close shave the first time through. Also, trying to maintain some sense of regularity so that you don't miss any patches. The only thing worse than not shaving is not completely shaving. Also, always use lots of warm water to clean your blade so that it doesn't get caught on your hairs.
Afterwards, a good aftershave will help your skin stay moist and feeling fresh. Sure it stings a bit, but that's how you know it is working. With these steps, you can help keep your face looking and feeling great everyday.
