A Great Guide To Centrum, Amsterdam Residing With Simple To Track Advice On Discovering Accommodatio
Where Architectural Enthusiasts should go in Amsterdam
For those with an itching for great architecture, youll be surprised at the many offerings Amsterdam has in place in Oostelijk Havengebied. The Eastern Docklands is home to many impressive modern structures which are all functional to the people residing there. For example, theres the Passengers Terminal Amsterdam, which is where many cruise ships and vessels dock for a start or stopover, quite impressive with its glass exterior made to look like a wave. Loods 6 is another historical structure worth the visit as it used to function as a departure hall for the Royal Dutch Steam Ship Company and was collaborated by different artists such as Horn and van den Steene. Another impressive structure is found beside the River IJ, the Music building, which is home to many concerts with a restaurant and caf on the side for convenience. But the most functional of all is the Pythonbug, a red bridge which looks like it is slithering on the waters of Amsterdam. Happy Browsing!
What you can discover in Amsterdams Centrum
Everything Amsterdam has to offer is encapsulated in its Centrum. For one, the Royal Palace of Amsterdam is situated there, one of the four palaces which is used by Queen Beatrix of Netherlands. The palace is again open to visitors since early last year, so one can visit the central hall where loyalty constantly walks. Centrum has Bloemenmarky which is considered as the only floating market in the world. Tourists will also love the different souvenirs found at the market for affordable rates. For artists and enthusiasts, make a visit to the Van Gogh Museum where the largest collection of his works is found. Aside from the more famous ones, theres also hidden museums found in Amsterdams canals with private residents as curators or those intended to benefit small organizations, and are also worth the tour. Prisengracht 263 where famous child diarist Anne Frank once lived with her family should also be visited. A myriad of shops and restaurants are also strewn all over the place so one can relax after a tiring day going about Centrum.
Searching through Bargain Finds at De Pijp
Although its reputation as a working class district makes it less popular than many of the other tourist areas in Amsterdam, theres no doubt that De Pijp has so much to offer travelers and locals alike especially when you want a taste of local and foreign culture cultivated in one area that they progress so seamlessly together. De Pijp is a melting pot of sorts for many cultures which is evident in their cuisine offerings. The most famous attraction at De Pijp is the Albert Cuyp Market, the largest outdoor market in all of Netherlands selling everything from flowers to medicine at rock bottom prices. The market is open 6 days a week excluding Sunday from 9: 00 AM to 6: 00 PM. They have different restaurants to offer the adventurous individual such as Mamouche where they serve North African dishes with a Western European influence or Bazar where they have Arabian dishes with North African twist. Dont forget to shop around the small, quaint shops too as De Pijp is an artists town, and will surely surprise you at every turn.
Learning the Ropes of Winemaking at the Amsteltuin Vineyard
Amsterdam nowadays is congested with so many businessmen, tourists and locals going about their busy lives, so when you want an easy escape from the glaring city life, go to the nearby village of Amstelveen. De Amsteltuin or Amsteltuin Vineyard is one of the very few Dutch vineyards existing and is the only one very close to Amsterdam that has different wine-related activities such as workshops and wine courses. Different group tours around the vineyard are possible upon request. Wine tasting is also possible but upon special request as the wine produced from the grapes in the vineyard is still under experimentation to see which type of wine is best produced. In the more warm-weathered months, one can enjoy a barbecue and buffet from the staff if wished. Otherwise, just prepare to spend a day under their trees, sipping wine and watching the day go by on their large patios and terraces. Aside from being a vineyard, Amsteltuin has also been made into a care centre for the disabled.
