has launched a new campaign to make teachers aware of their purchasing habits and how switching to greener alternatives will have a lesser impact on the environment. The "Switch to Green" campaign will not only help schools become more environmentally responsible but help to stretch their budgets further.

School Head's, Business Managers and Bursars are becoming much savvier when it comes to running an energy efficient school. With the Carbon Reduction Commitment affecting all educational establishments from April 2010, GLS aim to provide some extra advice which will help schools even further.

The French government are reacting to environmental concerns and have passed some substantial environmental laws, one of them stating that From 1 January 2013, school books must be printed on recyclable paper or on paper coming from sustainable managed forests. We would hope the UK would follow suit. With this withstanding GLS endeavour to source environmentally friendly papers that utilise as high a proportion of recycled fibre as possible without losing any quality or whiteness from the paper. All papers in their exercise books come from sustainable managed forests. The manila covers are made with 100% recycled fibre, the majority of which is post-consumer waste, and the printing inks used are solvent-free.
