Orange is currently a subsidiary of France Telecom and is one of the largest networks in the UK (and is ranked as fifth in the worlds largest mobile network operators). The company is based in Bristol, England and is headed by CEO Tom Alexander. This telecommunications company has earned a revenue of 6.620 Million Euro last 2007 and is continuously growing. The company has also recently began selling the Apple iPhone 3Gs and was the first UK company to begin selling the Apple mobile phone after the two year exclusive contract of O2 on the device. The company has over 300 stores all over the Europe and they have tie-ups with major retailers such as Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U, Argos and others. Originally, Orange Mobile was part of Hutchison Telecom. It was later purchased by Mannesmann AG in October 1999. When Vodafone later acquired Mannesmann, it sold Orange Mobile to France Telecom as the company was not allowed to own two mobile operators licenses within the UK. Recently, it has been announced that the German based Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom will be merging their operations within the UK. So far, no further details have been revealed as to what will happen to T-Mobile and Orange. Pay as You Go Phone Rates For Orange clients who would like to get pay-as-you-go devices, there is a very wide variety of mobile devices to choose from. Right now, Orange UK is offering its customers varying discount rates or free gifts to go with its PAYG mobile phones. The Sony Ericsson W395 for example will come with a free Benefit gift such as the Benefit Posie tint, a Feelgood Balm and a 10 Pound Benefit voucher. The BlackBerry Curve on the other hand is available to pay-as-you-go clients for 149 Pounds which is a great deal as it gives a 30 Pound discount. The Samsung Tocco Lite on the other hand is only 79 Pounds, 10 Pounds off the original price. Orange Monthly Deals In order to separate their deals from others, Orange adapted a unique and fun naming convention for their offered contracts. According to Orange, the different contracts have been designed with the lifestyle and needs of their target clients in mind and that the naming convention is not only fun, but also has greater recall value. The plans are named Dolphin, Raccoon and Panther. Dolphin plans are suited best for people who like to send text messages more often than anything else. Raccoon plans are the best choice for people who spend lots of time making phone calls and the Panther plans are web-centric deals that concentrate on being able to send lots of e-mails. Environmental Responsibility Across the UK, Orange mobile shops will accept old electronic gadgets and most particularly, mobile phones, for the purpose of recycling. For every device that Orange recycles, the company will donate 5 Pounds to its charity partners. While there are cash rewards for recycling certain old mobile phones, the main point of the campaign is to increase environmental awareness.About the Author:
