Adelaide Tourist Attractions

Though I am an Australian, I had never visited Adelaide until a few weeks back

. Though I had been planning to visit the city for several years, somehow I could not make time for the same. The emergence of the city as a major tourist destination refuelled my interest for the city. As it would not be possible for me to go for a long vacation at this point of time, I decided to go on a short tour to Adelaide. I applied for a few days of leave, got the train tickets and finally, I was ready to visit Adelaide. Sadly, I had to give many tourist attractions a miss because I had only a few days to spare. Therefore, after careful planning, I made a list of a few places that I felt I should not miss out on an Adelaide day trip.

Victor Harbor

I travelled 80 km south from the city of Adelaide to reach this town that is located along the sea on the coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula. I came to know that it has the largest population on the peninsula. A tour around the city gave me an idea that the livelihood of the residents f this city heavily depend on agriculture, fishing, tourism and various industries. I realized that it is a major tourist attraction from the huge number of tourists who had visited the city on the day of my visit. I felt that the city is worth visiting because of the rugged granite rocks. The famous Granite Island is accessible from this city, though I could not visit it as I was short of time.

Glenelg Beach

It is one of the popular beaches on the suburbs of the city. Australia is known for its pristine beaches and a tour to Adelaide would b incomplete without visiting at least one of its beaches. As I was on a vacation for only a few days, I realized that it would be impossible for me to visit all the beaches along its coast. Therefore, I decided to go for this beach because it was in the vicinity of the home-stay where I had put up in. It is situated on the shore of the Holdfast Bay in Gulf St. Vincent. The popularity of the beach was evident from the innumerable hotels and restaurants that are located near the beach.

The suburban areas, being one of the oldest European settlements on mainland South Australia, are ideal for long walks and are reflective of the bygone eras. The magnificent beach and the cool waters of the ea made me feel stay back in the city for at least a few more days. Time flew when I went for a relaxing swim in the cool waters of the sea, caught up with the latest music and read books that I had purchased a long time back but never that the time to read. Being a foodie, I gorged on fish and chips and tasted different world cuisines that are offered by the restaurants in the vicinity of the beach.

McLaren Vale

Being a lover of wine, it would have been unfair for me to not visit this place. While the drive offered breathtaking views of the beaches and the coastal areas, visiting the winery was the ultimate attraction for me. I got to taste different varieties of wines. The Cheese and Wine Trail Tour gave me the stunning opportunity to taste various mouth-watering varieties of cheese, chocolate-coated raspberries and nuts coupled with wine. A tour through McLaren Vale helped me to imbibe essential information regarding wine-making. A trip through this place was the best that I can ever expect while on a vacation.
