Aluminum Flag Poles: Different Halyard Configurations

Flagpoles for homes and businesses are commonly manufactured from aluminum and steel

. However, materials such as fiberglass are also used for the manufacturing of (smaller sized) flag poles. Flag poles that reach heights beyond 90 ft. are manufactured from steel. Fiberglass has proven to be a good solution to those seeking even a more economic flagpole.

A flag pole halyard truck is what determines how a flag pole will practically work. Common systems that are made available by flag and flagpole suppliers are: the single or double revolving external system and the internal halyard system. The V-Cleat flagpole, also know as the Colonial V-Cleat, is one of the latest revolutionary innovations in the flag pole industry. Other systems are the cam cleat and winch with removable handle.

Interestingly, the "ideal" in flagpole security is the Colonial V-Cleat flagpole (which is an internal halyard system). Since this is an internal halyard system, all the flag pole parts are installed on the inside of the flag pole shaft.

Whenever one chooses to raise or lower a flag, the halyard passes through the center of the pole, instead of being attached to the exterior of the shaft. The patented Colonial V-Cleat is safely secured behind a locking access aluminum door and maintains a flying flag at any desired height. This internal halyard system is considered a better cost-effective alternative to other internal halyard systems.

V-Cleat flagpoles have been developed to become "the" alternative or replacement for cam action or cam cleat type flag poles. Because a smaller access door is required for the V-Cleat system in the flagpole shaft, new V-Cleat poles are stronger than what was previously available on the market today. Another advantage to this system is the absence of mechanical parts inside the pole.

The following features and accessories are (usually) included with the purchase of flag poles: flag pole shaft, gold aluminum ball, flash collar (aluminum), snap hooks and covers, internal or external halyard system and ground sleeve (part of the foundation).
