Ambit Energy is a legitimate MLM company that sells energy. Yes, energy in the form of electricity or natural gas, depending on the where you are. The object is that Ambit provides energy at a lower price than the customer is already paying. So one thing you cant say about Ambit is that there isn't a market. Everyone uses energy, and Ambit offers it for less, and (this is key) the customer gets the energy from the same place and in the same method as he already does.

A Unique Selling Proposition

There is a small group of MLM companies that has the a Unique Selling Proposition. That USP is this: They offer the same thing you are already using, but you don't pay as much. Think about it. It is a much easier sell than saying, Buy this stuff you dont use to someone. Ambit is one of that small group.

The Management Team

One thing you look at when checking out a Network Marketing opportunity is the leaders. Who formed the company? At Ambit the two founders have great credibility. Jere Thompson and Chris Chambles have years of profitable experience in energy and MLM. Another point in their favor is the management team.

Upfront Costs and Getting Paid

It costs $400 to join Ambit Energy. For this you get a nice starter kit and several websites. Your monthly cost will be about $20. Like many MLMs there are fast start bonuses for signing up new representatives. This helps you get your original investment back. At this writing, youll need 4 distributors within 4 weeks to make back your $400. You will also get overrides from the labors of your distributors. Your residual income comes from commissions paid to you from the energy bought by customers.

One Possible Roadblock

MLMs do sell products and services, and this is where the residual income comes from. In Ambit, you can recruit distributors from anyplace, but Ambits services are available in just 3 states. Texas, New York, and Illinois are the only places you will be able to locate customers. I understand expansion plans are in the works, but a great deal of government red tape is involved in the expansion of an energy company. In order to optimize your residual income, you will need a number of customers who are not distributors. You will need to be able to market to possible customers in those states.

Overall Review

Ambits product is as good as anything on the market - energy. The management team is top-drawer. The comp plan is good. Costs are not out of line. But there is the drawback of product availability in only 3 states. If you can get around this roadblock, Ambit Energy could be a good fit. It is a lot more solid than some other companies Ive seen.
