Anti-Aging Botanicals In Skincare - What To Look For To Get Great Looking Skin
I have just seen an advertisement which claims that its ingredients are the most advanced anti-aging ingredients on the market to-day. I looked again and they claimed that their products were paraben free and free of all the usual toxic chemicals. That was the good news.
But there were no anti-aging botanicals at the top of this list. I was really disappointed to find that instead of the old fashioned parabens and fragrances, there were the new entries such as peptides which are somewhat risky. They are also known to cause skin sagging and the odd drooping eyelid!
Let me give you an example. On the list there is argireline which is a sort of botox in a bottle. This means that this peptide chain has the fantastic ability to inhibit our brain chemicals to send messages from the brain. The particular function in this case is to make sure that our frowning mechanism is blocked. We no longer frown and the whole face area is relaxed and wrinkles never get a chance to form. This may be a simplified version of the way it works but it serves as a rapid explanation which is ideal for our purposes here.
Then other ingredients instead of anti-aging botanicals are Retinol A and also hyaluronic acid. As to the latter we have no idea where it is sourced from but the choice is either some marine life or jelly from cows' eyes. I am not joking! It is obvious that these will never be at the same molecular density to match our own skin, given that they are derived from animals.
As regards Retinoids, such as tretinoin, isotretinoin and tazarotene there are questions about these because they lose their effectiveness after six months. Then there are question marks about the pro-retinols which are based on Vitamin A which has have no effect at all on the regeneration of collagen.
So, what are the anti-aging botanicals that are safe and effective? First we have all the plant derived moisturizers such as shea butter, avocado oil and jojoba. These all are great at nourishing and moisturizing the skin effectively. There are no harmful elements in them at all.
Then we have the skin lightening ingredients which can inhibit the melanin production so skin becomes lighter and more even toned. The best one I know of is called extrapone nutgrass and comes from India.
Finally there are the anti-aging botanicals which come from seaweed and the famous active manuka honey which is unique to New Zealand.
All these anti-aging botanicals have several common features. One is that they are totally natural and the second fact is that they are bio available and that means they can get to work quickly and efficiently on skin cell renewal and regeneration of collagen and hyaluronic acid.
Now that is what I mean by safe and effective skincare. Why not click through to my website and see what the other ingredients are to help you get great looking skin. You will never buy an over the counter product again!
