A case interview is a screening process for a job in which the job seeker has to discuss a real issue

These skills include reasoning, presentation, communication, commercial awareness and business skills etc. It is also possible that the candidate might be made to evaluate a figure related to business, market, profit or loss.

Such a screening process might be conducted in groups as well. A business related issue is given to a group of multiple job applicants and they are made to brainstorm over it. All of them need to discuss the issue and come with a logical response. The individual qualities are checked along with how they fare in a team.

The interviewer can act as a silent observer to the discussion process. While the candidates discuss the issue, the interviewer may notice the different aspects of their personalities. It is also possible that the interviewer may actively take part in discussion process.

Students need to have some preparation before appearing for any such a screening process. Plenty of resources are available in the form of books and Internet based websites.

Extensive preparation always happens to be the key for cracking a case interview. One should be confident while facing the interviewers. Focus needs to be on listening to the questions with utmost attentiveness. Shying away from asking questions is not expected as this is expected in the interview.
